Hello New Mexico Early Care Providers!
Hello New Mexico Early Care Providers!
I hope you found this past summer to be a productive time both professionally and personally. I found myself busy enjoying the weather and family. It was exciting for me as my husband and I are preparing for our first child to be born in November. After being in the field for 14 years it is exciting to be having my own little bundle of joy!
Within the association the board found ourselves busy as we continue to represent our membership throughout the state in various meetings and issues. July was an exciting month as we met with the Secretary of CYFD, Dorian Dodson as well as Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish. We were able to share concerns that we have heard statewide and discuss possible solutions. Both meetings went well and we do expect to continue to have a strong working relationship with both as we move forward in the early childhood field. Some issues we discussed with them included the need for provider rate increases due to increases in operation expenses, how they can support programs to increase quality across the state, our support of the Governors budget that includes child care subsidies for up to 200% of poverty, consistency concerns and strengths among agencies in the state, etc. Both the Lt. Governor and Secretary Dodson understand and are supportive of our issues and are
open to hearing from us.
At the same time we are having positive meetings,... We appreciate each of you who took the time to fill out and return our survey regarding early childhood issues. We are a volunteer board to represent you and the families you serve. Therefore we ask that you take the time to let us know what is important to you! If you have something pressing on your mind we ask you to email me at Rachel@community5413.org or call.
We are also always looking for people to testify on behalf of the early childhood community in various venues so if you have some good stories of families in your program, please let us know!
Sincerely,
Rachel L. Davis
