FREE ONLINE TRAINING HOURS INCLUDING THE 45 HOUR EQUIVALENCY COURSE FOR NMCCEA MEMBERS!

Dear Early Childhood Educators,

 

NMCCEA still has an active grant with the Dept. of Labor regarding FREE online training for NMCCEA members.  We still have slots available which can be used for either 16 hours towards the annual 24 required training hours or the entire training is approved as the equivalent of the 45 hour entry level course.

 

Please understand that each slot cost the grant $85.  Once you register a person, the Learning Destination (who handles all of the training) charges NMCCEA $85.  The agreement is that the registrant must complete just one hour of training within 30 days or NMCCEA will need to be reimbursed $85 for the slot. NMCCEA has to charge the $85 for unused slots because it is imperative that we show our grantors that people are benefiting from the training.  If people are not doing the training, it shows the grantor that we do not need the funding.  NMCCEA has a couple of suggestions regarding this issue.

 

1. Do not register a staff person without he/she understanding that they must complete one hour within 30 days or there will be an $85 charge.
2. You could require the staff person to invest $40 so that they do the training in order to get the $40 back.  And hopefully neither you or the staff will have to pay the $85,
3. Do not register a staff person until they are ready to start the training or need the hours.
4. Now the grant is good until June 30, 2008 so time is important.  Please register your staff as soon as possible in order to receive the FREE online training, but again-it is not FREE to NMCCEA.  It is a member benefit now and eventually we will have to charge for the training because of lack of funding.
