"Message from the President"

Happy Summer!

Do you ever feel like saying or have staff that say, 'That’s not my job!' As early childhood professionals we find ourselves reaching out to children, families, and even co-workers in ways that typically go beyond what we thought was in our scope of work. However, we are in this field because we love children and families, therefore we continue to go out of our way to help others. It’s who we are and what our hearts are about. We go the extra mile to help a family through whatever the situation is and therefore we find ourselves exhausted and even burned out at times. Due to this I urge you to find some time to take care of YOU. If you do not take time for yourself and your family you will burn out faster without a source of rejuvenation causing resentment towards the families and staff you deal with on a daily basis. Seek some time of solitude enjoy a special hobby and remember to schedule yourself time to be with yourself.

NMCCEA is here to offer you support in any way needed, whether it’s an ear to listen to the stresses of being in the early childhood field, to celebrate with you in the joys, or to support you through the online training, NAC continuing education hours, etc. This fall we will be offering training by Sharon McDonald on September 22 as well as other activities throughout the state and as always we are working with legislation on ways to improve the early childhood education system as a whole. Speak with your area representative to see what is going on and how you can be involved.
